Whether caused by an accident at home or at work, trauma to the hand is often treated as an emergency. Hand emergencies account for 80% of our activity at the Clinique Internationale du Parc Monceau, and today many patients are referred to us at a later stage, after a visit to the general emergency department. Our aim is to improve the flow of patients with hand injuries in Paris, but above all we want to help patients avoid delays in treatment, delayed diagnosis and other complications.

A dedicated emergency pathway

The resources made available by the Clinique Internationale du Parc Monceau, a high-quality technical platform and the complementarities between the clinic's emergency doctors and specialists, mean that care can be provided quickly and tailored to each case, in accordance with the recommendations of learned societies. Initially, the unscheduled care doctors make an initial diagnosis. If surgery is required, all radiological tests are carried out on site by specialists in osteoarticular imaging. The proximity of our colleagues, the availability and quality of our equipment, including high-performance optical microscopes in the operating theatre for repairing finger arteries and nerves, are precious resources that enable us to deliver high-quality work. In scheduled operations, a quarter of patients consult us for degenerative and rheumatic pathologies, mainly of the shoulder and wrist. 90% of operations are performed on an outpatient basis, using minimally invasive surgical techniques and local anaesthetic methods combined with analgesia.
